Burning More Calories

As you get older, it get harder to lose weight and most people metabolism tends to slow down. The trick for anyone over 30 is to keep your metabolism revving higher. Below are some tips to keep your metabolism burning higher.

  1. Don’t Skip Meals – This is a common mistake by most dieters. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day to keep your metabolism fast. Skipping meals causes your body to hold on to fat and burn less calories as a survival mechanism. Remember, your body does not know the definition of a diet. In-frequent meals signals a starvation

  2. Eat Small Meals Every 3 hours -  Eat small but eat frequent. Limit your intake to no more than 400 to 500 calories per meal and eat every 3 hours to keep your metabolism revved up.

  3. Drink Protein Shakes – Eat your last meal no later than 4 pm and have a protein shake for dinner and maybe one near bed time to really  increase your weight loss and calorie burn.

  4. Daily Aerobic Program – Elliptical or cycling burns lots of extra calories. Thirty minutes on the Elliptical can burn as many as 500 calories. To burn more calories, you have to move and doing some type of daily exercise will increase your overall metabolism.

  5. Minimize Sugar and Junk Carb Intake – Your body can burn more calories from protein and certain healthy fat than it can from junk carbs that come from refine sugar and white flour.  Eat plenty of vegetables, low glycemic fruits and whole grain product but reduce other forms of simple carbs.
