The older you get the harder it is to burn fat and to burn it fast. The metabolism naturally slows down with age. The obvious way to burn fat is to get more exercise. If you can schedule a 30 minute fast pace walk after work or during your lunch break, you will burn more calories and lose weight.

The trick to burning fat is to eat more often through the day. Most people do just the opposite and skip meals especially breakfast to save calories. They think skipping meals is the fast way to losing weight. Nothing could be farther from the truth. You actually lower your metabolism by skipping meals.

To burn fat, you need to eat small meals or snacks every 2 or 3 hours. Instead of eating big meals, eat small meals of 200 to 400 calories for women and 300 to 500 calories for men. This keeps your blood sugar level stable which makes your body dip into its fat reserve.

Eating small frequent meals also keeps you from binging or over-eating because you don’t feel deprived or too hungry during the day. Eating every 2 or 3 hours removes much of the temptation to over-eat.

It’s important to eat the right foods to burn fat. A diet of vegetables, whole grains and some fruits along with lean protein source is the best way to burn fat. Avoid as much sugar as possible. Foods high in sugar will cause your body to excrete excess insulin which keeps your body from efficiently burning fat.
